The Smart Staff App is the working tool of teachers and mentors employed by Smart Learning Centre. They use it to take the register, set and mark homework, see exam results, and follow their own professional development. This page explains what the app handles and who can see it.
Who the app is for
The app is for staff of Smart Learning Centre only. There is no sign-up screen and no way to create an account inside the app. The centre creates each teacher and mentor account. A member of the public who installs the app cannot sign in and the app collects nothing from them.
What the app handles about you, the staff member
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Your name, username and password | To sign you in and show your own groups. |
| Your groups, timetable and the lessons you have taught | The core of the job the app supports. |
| Your training record, lesson observations and agreed goals | Your professional development record, kept by the centre. |
| Your answers in the Daily Check, and any paragraph you write there | To give you feedback on your own English. The paragraph is sent to Anthropic's Claude API for that feedback and is not used to train any model. |
| Your earnings figures, where the centre records them | So you can see your own pay. The app displays them; it takes no payments. |
| Messages you send in the app's chat rooms | Delivered to the other staff in that room. |
| A device notification token, if you allow notifications | To send the reminders described below. Removed when you sign out. |
Data about students
To do their job, staff see records about the students in their own groups: names, attendance, homework and what the student submitted, exam and practice results, and vocabulary progress. Some of those students are minors.
These records are created by the centre in the course of teaching. The app shows a teacher only the students in their own groups. It is a tool for delivering the course, and the records are not used for anything else, not sold, and not shared with third parties for marketing.
Notifications
If you allow them, the app sends you a reminder when something is still outstanding — a register not taken, a lesson not started, or your Daily Check not done. Nobody is sent a notification when they have nothing outstanding. You can turn notifications off at any time in your phone's settings, and the app keeps working without them.
What the app does not do
- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
- No analytics or tracking SDKs.
- No data is sold, rented, or shared for marketing.
- No location, contacts, camera or microphone access.
Where the data lives
Smart Learning Centre runs the service on these providers, who process data on the centre's behalf:
- Supabase — the database holding the records above.
- Vercel — hosting for the app and its serverless functions.
- Google Firebase Cloud Messaging — delivery of notifications, if you enable them.
- Anthropic — the Claude API, which grades written homework and gives feedback on the Daily Check paragraph.
Traffic between the app and these services is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).
Keeping and deleting data
Staff records are kept while you work at the centre, and afterwards only as long as the centre needs them for its own administration.
To ask for your account or your data to be deleted, contact Smart Learning Centre by email or phone using the details below. Say which staff account it concerns. The centre will confirm when it is done. You can ask this whether or not you still have the app installed.
Records that form part of the centre's own teaching history — such as the attendance and grades of students you taught — belong to the centre and remain after an individual staff account is closed.
